Medicare Supplement Plan K Overview
What does Medicare Supplement Plan K Cover?
Medicare Supplement Plan K covers Part A hospital deductible and 50% of the other gaps in Medicare. Medicare Supplement Plan K offers the same basic benefits of the other supplements with a lower premium. The plan covers preventative care services and an extra year for in-hospital stays, although requires a split int he cost-sharing with the primary insurance carrier on items such as the Part A deductible. Medicare Supplement Plan K also includes a cap on spending, referred to as an out-of-pocket maximum.
Medicare Supplement Plan K covers the following:
- 50% Original Medicare Part A’s deductible
- 50% Part A Hospice Care coinsurance or copayment
- 50% Medicare Part B Coinsurance or copayment
- 50% Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare’s benefits are used up
- 50% Part B coinsurance or copayment
- 50% First three pints of blood used in an approved medical procedure
